Getting Started Information
New Beginners: If you are new to sewing or relearning the basics choose a class from this section
Service Description
Classes in our Getting Started section are exactly what they sound like, classes to introduce you to and help you become familiar with using a home sewing machine. Students are not required to own a sewing machine to start taking classes with us, but if they do have a machine that is new or just new to them they are encouraged to bring it in and let us help them learn how to set it up and make it go. The main focus of classes in this section is to teach students: - the basic parts of the typical sewing machine -how to plug it in and turn it on and work the power pedal -how to thread the machine machine and sewing needle -how to wind the bobbin and load the bobbin case -how to remove and replace needles -how to remove and attach the various presser feet -about the straight , zig-zag, and back stitch -how to properly adjust stitch length and width -how to successfully create neat and secure stitches -how to create even seams ….and so much more. Students who complete these classes will be able to easily and successfully set up their machine or a basic home sewing machine for beginner sewing projects all by themselves. Once they know how to do that, they will be prepared to start exploring and participating in the projects found in our Beginner and Intermediate level class options. If you have questions about introductory classes or have project suggestions, please contact us at inkandycence@gmail.com. Best Wishes and Straight Stitches, InKandycence
