Getting More Out of Your Machine

Service Description

This is an optional class for beginner students who want to dive deeper and go beyond the basic sewing machine operation of straight or zigzag stitching. You may have an automatic buttonhole function, or a ruffler foot attachment you want to explore on your machine. This session goes into more detail about those and other functions that make using a home sewing machine more efficient, dynamic, and useful for your needs. We explore some of the more skilled uses of the home sewing machine including: -several decorative stitches you may have on your machine and what they do and when to use them -the top 10 sewing tools and where to get them and in what order to best acquire them with consideration for budget and actual project goals -and the tips and tricks used by experienced sewists to successfully create beginner to advanced sewing projects including clothing, costumes, and crafts. Skill Level: New Beginners who think they may want to work independently and largely learn on their own will find this class helpful as they prepare to tackle projects alone at home. Students who plan to return to the studio for continuing projects and lessons may opt to skip this class, as many of the lessons shared here are also shared as students advance from one project to the next on our class menu. Whatever the goal may be, students for this class should already know basic functions of a home sewing machine, including threading the machine, winding the bobbin, and pushing the foot pedal. Our “Introduction to the Sewing Machine” Class is strongly recommended. Class Fee: Price includes all needed materials as well as use of sewing machine and related tools. Class Length: Class is 1 session for 90 mins. Additional Sewing supplies, other than student's machine, power cord, and owners manual (if they are bringing their own machine), are not required for this class. Student is invited to bring a pencil and paper to take notes during the class.
