Youth Student's Choice Sewing Session

Service Description

Practice your skills and build your confidence in sewing with regular, even weekly, guided sewing sessions. Sewing will become second nature, as you use the sewing machine to create clothing, craft, and décor projects you (the student) choose and love. Instructor will provide guidance on how to select projects suited to your skill level. Students attending guided sewing sessions consistently can expect to attain and increase a variety of sewing related skills including: -how to create basic sewing seams -how to finish and treat raw seam edges -the importance of ironing and steaming to the sewing process -how to hand finish a simple hem and more In addition to improved practical sewing skills, students, attending regular sewing sessions will also enjoy increased self-confidence, strengthened creative problem solving skills, and the development of positive self-care attitudes. Skill Level: Student should know how to operate sewing machine, including threading the machine, winding the bobbin, and pushing the foot pedal. Our “Introduction to the Sewing Machine” Class is strongly recommended. Instructor will provide guidance on how to select projects suited to the student’s skill level. Once a student decides on a project and pattern, the instructor will guide them through the construction of the project from start to finish over a series of sessions. The number of sessions required for each project will depend solely on the size of the project and the student’s sewing ability. Typically, instructor tries to encourage projects that will not take more than four 60 minute sessions, so that student is finishing a minimum of at least 1 project per month. Class Fee: Class includes expert help on project of student’s choice, plus access to studio machine and tools as needed. Student provides the patterns, supplies, and fabric needed to complete their project. They can also bring their own machine if they wish to practice sewing with their own machine. Class Length: This is a 60 minute session.
